About Me
Keeping your teeth young

As we get older suddenly we realised many things we didn't appreciate about being young - being fit, having smooth skin and having all your own teeth. As our loose teeth (and bridges) struggle to deal with chewier food we start eating bland mush and, there is no easy way to say this, OLD PEOPLE FOOD. I'm determined not to let that happen to me and I'm doing everything I can to keep my own teeth as long as possible, and when that's not possible to get the best possible teeth replacement. If you are like me and want to keep on eating whatever you want, I think you'll like my site. It's all about dental health and teeth replacement & maintenance.

Does Your Child Have Dental Problems? Signs They Have Issues With Their Fillings

Mabel Hicks

If you have children, you need to pay attention to their dental health. This is especially true with regard to younger children. That's because young children can't always tell you when something is wrong with their teeth. Fillings can pose a hidden risk for kids, especially once they're damaged. That's why you need to watch for potential problems. Read the list provided below. If your child experiences any of the problems described here, it's time to schedule an appointment with their dentist. Their fillings could be failing.

Tooth Sensitivity

If your child has tooth sensitivity, the first thing you should do is try a different toothpaste. Desensitising toothpaste can help alleviate sensitivity. If this doesn't soothe the problem, you'll need to take your child to the dentist. This is especially important if the sensitivity affects a tooth that has a filling. Once the filling gets repaired, the tooth sensitivity should end.

Cracks in Fillings

If your child chews on ice or hard candy, be sure to check their fillings from time to time. Chewing on hard objects can damage your child's teeth. Cracks are the most obvious signs of damage caused by hard objects. Unfortunately, cracked fillings can increase your risk for dental infections. Cracks can also increase the risk of tooth decay. If you find cracks in your child's fillings, be sure to schedule a dental appointment as soon as possible.

Lost Fillings

If you haven't checked your child's teeth in a while, now's the time to do that. This is especially important if your child has fillings. Fillings can fall out, especially if your child chews gum, or eats sticky candy. Missing fillings need immediate dental attention. That's because lost fillings can lead to infections, which can cause infections and decay. Waiting too long to have the filling replaced could lead to tooth loss. Luckily, you can avoid that risk by taking your child to the dentist as soon as they lose a filling.

Sharp Edges

If your child is getting cuts on the inside of their mouth, you need to check their fillings. When fillings break, they can leave sharp edges. Unfortunately, those sharp edges can cut the inside of your child's mouth. Luckily, the dentist can repair the sharp edges and alleviate the cuts.

Don't take chances with your child's dental health. If your child experiences any of the above problems, schedule an appointment with a childrens dentistry near you.
